Climate activist Greta Thunberg was detained by police in London on Tuesday while protesting against the oil and gas industry. Thunberg had joined other protestors in front of the InterContinental Hotel on Park Lane in London where she warned that “the world is drowning in fossil fuels,” before being led away by police. Fossil Free London announced that Thunberg had been “arrested,” with an accompanying video of her being put into a van by police officers. In a statement, London’s Metropolitan police said: “Officers asked the protestors to move from the road onto the pavement, which would enable them to continue with their demonstration without breaching the conditions. STOCKHOLM (AP) — Sweden on Tuesday reported partial damage to an undersea telecom cable in the Baltic Sea running to Estonia that authorities believe happened at the same time as damage to an undersea gas pipeline and telecom cable from Finland to Estonia.Finland launched an investigation into possible sabotage after reporting the damage to its gas pipeline to Estonia last week. Sweden’s Civil Defense Minister Carl-Oskar Bohlin said Tuesday that the damage to the cable between Sweden and Estonia appeared to happen at the same time, but that it’s unclear what caused it.“It is not a total cable break.
