MILWAUKEE (AP) — Herb Kohl, a former Democratic U.S. senator from Wisconsin and former owner of the Milwaukee Bucks basketball team, has died, an email from his foundation said Wednesday. He was 88.Kohl was a popular figure in Wisconsin, purchasing the Bucks to keep them from leaving town, and spending generously from his fortune on civic and educational causes throughout the state. He also used his money to fund his Senate races, allowing to him to portray himself as “nobody’s senator but yours.”In the Senate, a body renowned for egos, Kohl was an unusual figure. He was quiet and not one to seek credit, yet effective on issues important to the state, especially dairy policy. Man fatally shot by Connecticut police was wanted in a 2022 shooting, fired at dog, report says

STONINGTON, Conn. (AP) — A man who was fatally shot by police in Connecticut last week had a pistol and fired at a police dog as he attempted to flee from state troopers and other officers serving a warrant for a 2022 shooting, according to a preliminary report released Wednesday by the state’s Office of Inspector General. Vaughn R. Malloy, 42, can be seen on police body-camera video running from the rear of a home in the Pawcatuck section of Stonington, near the Rhode Island state line, on Dec. 21, and ignoring police demands to stop. Police then fired two “less lethal impact munitions” at Malloy before deploying the dog, known as Broko, to stop him. “During this engagement, Malloy fired several rounds at the canine and Troopers striking a police vehicle and killing the Connecticut Police canine,” according to the report. AUSTIN (KXAN) — A man reportedly armed with a gun is dead after an Austin Police Department officer opened fire Tuesday afternoon in northeast Austin, according to APD Chief Robin Henderson. I could say goodbye to fighting cowlicks and humid-weather frizz and hello to effortlessly polished, professional-looking hair.This fall, the Food and Drug Administration announced that several common treatments used to smooth, straighten or relax hair — including many keratin treatments — contain formaldehyde, a known carcinogen.
