A regional trail that does not link?In the Oct. 27 edition of the Pioneer Press, Fred Melo reported that the Metropolitan Council approved the highly contested, heavily debated Summit Avenue Regional Trail.Mr. Melo reported that “Supporters see the trail as an important east-west connection linking existing bike trails along the Mississippi River to trails closer to downtown.”But how can that be?The Summit Avenue Regional Trail is intended to be an east-west connection, linking  the Mississippi River Trail in the west to the Sam Morgan Trail in the east. MSP airport undergoing $242 million upgrade of concourses, 75 gates

Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport is getting a $242 million makeover.Leaders with the Metropolitan Airports Commission said MSP’s Terminal 1 will undergo renovations in its concourses and 75 gate areas — what officials are calling the largest interior renovation project for gates and concourses since the airport opened in 1962.The project will provide a “brighter, more modern” design across the terminal. About 17 hours after completing a thrilling, two-set comeback to bounce third-seeded Rogers in the quarterfinals of the volleyball state tournament, Stillwater was back in action at Xcel Energy Center for a Class 4A semifinal match against second-seeded New Prague.And, just a couple of points in, Stillwater coach Sara Baumgard could tell her team was fatigued from the night before.“I don’t think we were as mentally sharp,” Baumgard said, “and that showed physically.”It’s a big ask to bounce back almost immediately from a marathon match to deliver the goods again the next morning. CAPITAL REGION, N.Y. (NEWS10) - A tentative agreement between Hollywood and the Actors’ Union could mean that it’s back to lights, camera and action in the Capital Region. NEWS10 talked with those in our local area about what that means going forward. Local film industry leaders say they are optimistic the vote on Friday will pass a new deal and end the strike. Demonstration along Manchester Road draws large crowd; one arrested

MANCHESTER, Mo. - A large group has gathered Thursday afternoon along Manchester Road in west St. Louis County for an apparent demonstration. Dozens have gathered, including many with flags and signs. This gathering is mainly near Manchester Road and Weidman Boulevard in the City of Manchester. Authorities are working to clear the area. According to the St. Louis County Police Department, one person was arrested "as a result of a dispute between parties unknown to one another." Rush-hour demonstrations unfold in St. Louis City & County

ST. LOUIS - Dozens have gathered for two rush-hour demonstrations in the St. Louis metro Thursday afternoon, one in the City of St. Louis and another in St. Louis County. FOX 2 has learned of a gathering in the Forest Park Southeast neighborhood near Chouteau and South Newstead avenues. Many have brought flags or signs, and the group could potentially march along St. Louis streets. City sells stolen car in error; won’t share profits with victim This is the second large demonstration over the St. Louis metro in the last few hours. Dozens also gathered along Manchester Road in west St. Louis County with similar signs and flags. This is leading to some major traffic delays. Police also arrested one person while responding. Armed man robs south St. Louis County 7-Eleven store

LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – The search is on for an armed thief who targeted a south St. Louis County 7-Eleven convenience store.According to a police spokesperson, the armed robbery occurred around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday at the 7-Eleven on Hoffmeister Avenue. The suspect walked inside and pointed a handgun at the clerk.Amy Cooper, who works in the area, said the news is alarming“It’s scary. Another of the three men accused of killing five people in a house fire in Denver’s Green Valley Ranch neighborhood is likely to reach a plea agreement with prosecutors, his attorney said Thursday during the first hearing since the Colorado Supreme Court upheld key evidence in the case.Gavin Seymour is continuing plea negotiations with prosecutors, his attorney said. Residents of an off-campus apartment building serving students who attend Denver’s Auraria Campus are being told to sign up to shower at an adjacent hotel because their units have been without hot water for nearly two months.The boiler system at the Auraria Student Lofts, located in a high rise at 1051 14th St., across from the Denver Performing Arts Complex, malfunctioned in mid-September, leaving student tenants without consistent hot water, said Paula Platt, senior vice president of Nelson Partners Student Housing, which manages the property.The Auraria Campus, home to the Metropolitan University of Denver, the University of Colorado Denver and Colorado Community College, is not affiliated with the private student apartments, which offer 125 units with 438 beds.The parts to fix the boiler are custom and must be manufactured, Platt said.
