Schenectady police conducting death investigation

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Police announced they are investigating a death that occurred in Schenectady. According to detectives, there is currently no indication of foul play. On July 8 at 11:31 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Albany Street and Martin Street for the report of a person down in the roadway. Police located a man with a head injury, who was pronounced dead at the scene shortly thereafter. A preliminary investigation by police revealed that the man had been observed running into traffic, and he reportedly jumped onto a moving vehicle, which detectives say ultimately led to his death. The name of the deceased was not released, and the incident remains under investigation.

Woman shot by officers in Tarzana after 2 separate assaults

An officer-involved shooting occurred after a woman allegedly attacked four people in Tarzana.According to the LAPD, authorities first received multiple calls regarding separate assaults in the 5700 block of Reseda Boulevard around 8:35 a.m.Responding officers encountered the suspect, only described as a 30-year-old Black female, armed with a metal pipe. She was shot by police and transported to a hospital in stable condition.Out of the four victims, two were transported to nearby hospitals in stable condition, one refused treatment at the scene, and one victim's condition remains unknown.No officers were injured in the shooting, and a metal pipe was recovered at the scene.Traffic in the area will be impacted for several hours due to the investigation.Sofia Pop Perez and Luis Zuniga contributed to this report.

One dead, another critically injured after plane crash at San Rafael Airport

One person died and another was critically injured after a small plane crashed at the San Rafael Airport on Smith Ranch Road Saturday night, authorities say. They were the only passengers on the plane.According to the Marin County Sheriff’s office, the plane, which originated in Minden, Nevada, crashed in a marsh at the east end of the runway sometime around 11 p.m. on Saturday.One of the two people aboard was pronounced dead at the scene. The second was transported to a local hospital, where they were in critical condition. MIAMI (AP) — The Philadelphia Phillies placed left-handed reliever José Alvarado on the 15-day injured list on Sunday because of left elbow inflammation.The 28-year-old Alvarado has appeared in 26 games and last pitched in a one-inning scoreless outing against the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday. Although All-Star Craig Kimbrel has assumed the closer’s role, Alvarado maintains a vital role for the Phillies in high-leverage spots.
