Officials say Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton is fully operational again after a major power outage.The Brockton Emergency Management Agency (BEMA) announced the update Sunday morning, nearly 24 hours after emergency crews were first called to Good Samaritan for what the hospital said was an outage caused by a plumbing issue that impacted an electrical room.The power remained out for the evening in some areas of the hospital, but there was no flooding in patient areas and the hospital was not evacuated.“To maintain public safety, which is always our first priority, a limited number of patients have been moved to our sister hospitals to ensure continuity of care,” the hospital wrote. “Due to this internal issue, our emergency department has gone on Code Black, which is the diversion of ambulances to other facilities but remains open to patients walking in for care.”https://twitter.com/Brockton_EMA/status/1711024558352781561

(AP) — An Amtrak passenger train crashed into an SUV in southeastern Vermont, killing the SUV’s driver and injuring his passenger, authorities said.The state police said 53-year-old Craig Hudson, of Brattleboro, died in the crash Friday in Vernon, a town of about 2,000 people that borders New Hampshire and Massachusetts. His passenger, 47-year-old Shenandoah Gilbert, of Vernon, was being treated for injuries at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in New Hampshire.No one was hurt on the train, which continued its route after a delay, authorities said.Amtrak said there were 215 passengers on board train 56, which was traveling from Washington, D.C., to St. Albans, Vermont.Further information has not been released.A state police reconstruction team is investigating the crash, with remote assistance from Amtrak police.
