ST. LOUIS -  Thieves broke into a business overnight in the Southwest Garden neighborhood of south St. Louis.That was just before 1:30 a.m. at the 'Family Dollar' store on Southwest Avenue at Magnolia Avenue. Someone smashed the glass on the front door to get inside. New law requires doctors to assess Missouri kids under 6 for lead exposure There is no word yet on what was taken. 1 person rescued from apartment fire in south St. Louis City

ST. LOUIS -  An apartment building was damaged after an overnight house fire in the Dutchtown neighborhood of south St. Louis.Firefighters rescued one person from the second floor of the building on Osage Street at South Compton Avenue. Investigators shared that the fire started in the kitchen of a first floor apartment. No one was injured. Teens seen on video attacking Walgreens employee in Missouri Firefighters added that there was a fire on the porch at that same location two days ago.

Overnight fire damages Captain D's restaurant

ST. LOUIS - A fire overnight damaged a fast food restaurant in St. Louis.The Captain D's on South Grand caught fire around midnight. Investigators said it started in the kitchen and damaged the back of the building. Crews are still looking for the cause. Teens seen on video attacking Walgreens employee in Missouri The dining area does have smoke and water damage, but no one was injured. Stephanie Burkhardt is one of the luckier members of a group no one wants to join: She’s the mother of a child with a rare, incurable disease.When her son Connor was 3, he started having unexplained seizures. Testing at Children’s Hospital Colorado quickly uncovered the cause — a genetic syndrome called Batten disease, which causes waste products to build up in his cells.Children with Batten disease either don’t meet developmental milestones, or lose skills over time. They eventually lose their sight and ability to speak or move, and have a shortened life expectancy.
